My group has an interest in quantifying the behaviour of pulsed nanosecond-duration plasma discharges.

We recently published a paper on very high-speed plasma diagnostics, investigating the temperature and number density of a metastable state of argon.  The result is very interesting, we think, because it shows selective excitation of the metastable state to temperatures well above the equilibrium temperature.
